Re-awakening Our Imaginations
For those who have a very strong imagination this exercise will be easier. For those who find it hard to use their imagination, this exercise may take a bit more work – but once you learn to re-awaken your imagination you will find it to be a satisfying and rewarding experience.
Find somewhere nice and quiet where you will not be disturbed. Sit or lay down in a position that you feel comfortable in. Close your eyes and take in 3 deep breaths slowly. Put on some soothing music and light a candle or two if you feel it helps to relax you.
Once you feel completely relaxed imagine that you are walking in a beautiful field. Take note of what is around you. What do you see? Are there any animals in this field? What type of animals are they?
What is the weather like? Is it hot, cold, snowy or raining? If it is cold then feel the crisp cool feeling on your skin or if it is hot then, feel the heat of the warm sunrays as they swirl around you.
What tastes or smells come to you? Are there clouds in the sky or not? Take every thing in – in as much detail as you can. Remember this is your vision, your imagination so anything can happen.
Now move away from the field and go to a place where you feel happy and content. Where are you now? What do your surroundings look like? Who and what is there? Take every detail in and make your vision be as clear as you can.
Now try to imagine yourself in 10 years from now. What would you like to be doing in 10 years from now? What do you look like and where do you live? What job do you have? Try to imagine what you would like your life to be like in 10 years from now. Take as long as you like to imagine this and add in as much detail as you can.
